Blackbird established its first fund in 2012. It is widely regarded as one of the most successful venture funds ever in Australia, and its returns place it in the top quartile of venture funds worldwide. It’s investments include Canva, Safety Culture, Culture Amp and Propeller.
In the same way that shareholders in technology companies occasionally want liquidity, so too do some investors in venture funds like Blackbird, particularly the investors in early funds. We see this as just another form of secondary liquidity and we have purchased positions from these kind of investors across several Blackbird funds.
The indirect exposures we have created from these kind of transactions include Canva, Safety Culture, Culture Amp and Skedulo.
